How it works

Insulating microspheres were developed by NASA to combat the high temperatures encountered by the space shuttle on re-entry.

These microspheres create a thermal barrier that refract, reflect and dissipate heat away from the surface on which it is applied.

On internal walls and ceilings this reduces heat loss, creating a warmer room.

On external walls and roofs, this reflects the heat from the sun away, creating a cooler internal room.

How do they work when mixed in paint?

Conventional insulation products only work by slowing down the rate of heat loss through the actual wall. 

The microspheres in Thermilate work by helping to prevent the heat getting through the wall in the first place, by reflecting the heat away from the walls surface. 

Thermilate is so effective that it even gives excellent energy savings even when used on well insulated walls.

Coverage rates are dependent upon the paint in which you mix Thermilate. For a paint with a coverage rate of 15m² per litre*, applying 2 coats as recommended for optimum results, will give you a minimum coverage rate of 35m² from just one bag. That's insulation for less than 1 €uro a m²!
