Energy Saving Tips

Saving Energy will not only reduce the impact we all have on the environment, but can also save you money. By implementing some simple changes we can all make a real difference to our environment while saving ourselves some cash for those well earned treats

Make Light Work of Energy Saving

Change to Low energy bulbs. They've been around for a while now, but still many of us haven't made the switch. Not only do they last 10 times longer than ordinary high energy bulbs, they also use a staggering 75% less energy.

While their cost may seem a little high at first, they'll pay for themselves in no time, and continue to make you savings on your electricity bills long after the traditional light bulbs have gone out.

Have regular check-ups

Having your boiler checked yearly, is a sure fire way to save money on your heating bills. A well maintained boiler will run more efficiently, save you money and keep to a minimum the amount of carbon dioxide it emits.

Get your pressure checked

The next time you visit the garage, take a few moments to check your tyre pressure. Keeping your tyres topped up will improve the number of mpg you get out from your car, and save you money at the petrol pumps.

Sunshine and Shade

Simply by working with what nature has to offer, you can make huge savings throughout the year.

Make the most of the natural solar heat during the winter months, by keeping your blinds and curtains open during the day, and you can reduce your heating bills by 10 percent.

During the summer, blocking out the sunlight with exterior blinds or shutters can help cut your air conditioning bills by up to 33 percent.

If spending the summer with the shutters down doesn't seem very appealing, then why not get creative in the garden instead? Planting deciduous trees (those that loose their leaves during the winter) on the south side of your property will give you shade during the warmest part of the year and allow the sun to shine through during the cooler months. You'll be able to achieve the same results, but with a great view all year round.

Shower Power your way to water savings

Switching from a bath to a shower, will save you time and money. A typical bath can use anywhere up to 70 gallons of water, while a shower will require just 25 gallons.
